The techniques employed in the cryogenic storage of germplasm and molecular engineering are based on advanced technology. They are therefore considered unsuitable for adoption for the improvement and conservation of poultry genetic resources of the poorer, developing countries. The poor living standards, low levels of technological development, and the worsening economic conditions of the countries call for the use of simpler, low-tech conventional methods which they can afford.
