The Nordic Working Party on animal gene banks (NAGB) has (1) mapped out conservation needs and activities, (2) mediated information about these. (3) initiated establishment of national gene banks, (4) built a Nordic information centre with data bank, (5) followed progress and applied results of research on methods for conservation, (6) distributed information on scientific and popular levels, and (7) seeked for collaboration with similar activities on plant and animal sides.
