Abstract

An international genetic evaluation model based on pre-corrected data, i.e. daughter yield deviations of bulls or yield deviations of cows, was presented. Mixed model equations of this model were derived for both within-country single and multiple trait models. For the widely used production trait evaluation models, the repeatability lactation model and the random regression test day model, least squares part of left-hand-side and right-hand-side of the equation system were developed. The proposed model guarantees the same modelling of genetic effects and the use of the same pedigree information in both national and international genetic evaluations. This evaluation model is also applicable to international cow evaluation. The presented model utilizes optimally the information derived from diverse national evaluations and makes an improvement in international genetic evaluation methodology.
