Abstract

The objectives of the present study were to investigate the differences among Chinese native chickens in comparison to some imported chickens using single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP). The heterozygosity average over all SNP in the total sample was 0.3680. For Chinese native breeds, Yangshan displayed the lowest genetic variation (0.2522) and Lueyang displayed the highest (0.3594). Average gene diversity was for all population was 0.3098. The relationships between Chinese native chickens were closer based on SNP. The remoter relationships between all Chinese native chickens and Leghorn, and the smaller relationship between all Chinese native and Normandy chickens was observed.
